DR. ERICKSON’S OPTIMAL DIET TIPS
You are what you eat. What you’re eating today you’ll be wearing tomorrow. Diet is critical! What you eat keeps you going and affects tissue, organs and cell quality (integrity). The Surgeon General says, “The one choice that influences the population the most is what we eat.” Good nutrition can help you perform your best and improve fitness and endurance along with good exercise. Variety is the key to healthful eating.
Eat a diet, which emphasizes whole grains and includes at least 5 servings a day of a variety of fruits, and vegetables. Try to include bananas, oranges, grapes, apples, cantaloupe, carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, greens, peppers and onions frequently.
Improper diet may be related to tiredness, high blood pressure, nervousness, anxiety, A.D.D., weight gain/loss, diabetes, pain, allergies, heart disease, cancer and early death.
Part of your health problems and Vertebral Subluxation Complex (abnormal joint position and motion) may be bio-chemical (diet related) and may not be all physical stress.
MOST PATIENTS SHOULD TAKE:
(Most of these supplements we carry at the clinic – ask staff or Dr. Rick)
1. Multi-Vitamin/mineral supplement (AVED-M is the one I prescribe) natural, organic, high potency, good quality. VEMMA is a high tech liquid multi-vitamin (65 ingredients)
2. EPA/DHA Fish oil (Omega III) for heart health and inflammation
3. Women especially should get 1200mg of calcium per day (with magnesium and vit. D) Post-menopausal women need 1500 mg per day.
4. Vitamins E, A, C, (anti-oxidants—included in #1). Co Enzyme Q 10
5. ZYMAIN (prescribed in the clinic) natural anti-inflammatory (when you have pain, swelling or a strain/sprain), along with ultra Ca/Mg (natural muscle relaxer)
6. If you’re in phase 2 or above of Subluxation degeneration it is beneficial to take glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate to naturally help rebuild cartilage around joints. (The product Cartilage Care)
EVERYONE SHOULD EAT 3 PLUS MEALS A DAY – The most important meal is breakfast. Break the fast!
Six to Eight 8oz. glasses of water per day (reduce risk of kidney stones, and are good for joints, muscles and energy).
Use the following SPARINGLY (if at all): alcohol, fat, oils, sugar, salt, sodas (2 per week are OK), Twinkies, pop tarts, ding dongs, cookies, french fries, chips, fast foods, red meats, pork, white bread and biscuits (use whole wheat/whole grain breads), caffeine, and all drugs and medications (whenever possible), hydrogenated fats (margarine, etc.), cheeses and milk (especially high fat products – choose skim milk and low fat cheeses), eggs (4 per week is OK). Try to consume no more than 30-50 grams of fat a day. Eliminate smoking.
WE ALL need to maintain a healthy weight, exercise, watch our posture and try to live each day as if it could be our last (enjoy life). Remember – you only get one body!! Take responsibility for it!
ENJOY HEALTH & LIFE!
