Nutritional Counseling
in Winston-Salem
If you’re doing “everything right” with your chiropractic care but still feel tired, stiff, or not quite yourself, your nutrition may be part of the issue. What you eat every day affects how your spine, muscles, and nervous system function.
Poor food choices can contribute to fatigue, inflammation, metabolic disease, and earlier wear and tear in the body. Dr. Rick Erickson takes nutrition seriously because he has seen how much faster people improve when their bodies have the right fuel.
How Nutrition Counseling Fits Into Your Care
Dr. Erickson usually introduces nutrition counseling after your fourth to sixth adjustment, once you are starting to feel some improvement. That way, you’re not overwhelmed on day one, and we can build on the progress your body is already making. During that visit, you’ll receive a clear packet covering general nutrition guidelines, ideas to improve daily meals, and supplement suggestions tailored to you.
The packet also includes simple exercises for common trouble spots like your low back, hips, neck, and shoulders. At future visits, Dr. Erickson checks in so you stay supported and accountable.

Core Nutrition Habits and Key Supplements
Dr. Erickson’s approach focuses on practical daily habits you can maintain long term. He often recommends three real meals per day with a strong breakfast; at least five servings of fruits and vegetables; plenty of water; fewer heavily processed and high‑fat animal foods; more lean protein and fiber‑rich plant foods; and a generally active, smoke‑free lifestyle.
He also commonly suggests a high-quality whole-food multivitamin, omega‑3 fish oil, calcium with magnesium and vitamin D, and natural anti-inflammatory support when appropriate.

Personalized Supplements and Standard Process Support
Every body is different, so Dr. Erickson looks at your specific concerns—such as stiffness, frequent headaches, menstrual changes, or bone health—to fine-tune supplement choices. We often recommend Standard Process supplements, a line of whole-food-based products that support your body’s natural healing processes.
