Gonstead technique is taught at Palmer College of Chiropractic, but Dr. Erickson continued his education through additional Gonstead courses and specialized training at the Gonstead Clinic in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin.
The approach includes static and motion palpation to examine the spine by hand, along with instrumentation such as the Nervo-Scope. Chiropractic X-rays may also be analyzed using detailed measurements to evaluate spinal alignment and help determine where an adjustment may be made.
An Approach That Can Be Adapted
Dr. Erickson uses Gonstead technique with a variety of spinal presentations, including:

Gonstead takes a full-spine approach rather than focusing only on the area that hurts. Dr. Erickson examines the spine for findings that may need attention and adapts the adjustment accordingly. Depending on the patient, he may also examine and work with areas such as the hips, knees, or shoulders.
Despite the detailed analysis behind the technique, Gonstead adjustments are designed to be specific and can be performed gently.
